Miniatures Finished: The Harvestmen

This is going to sound more "creepypasta" than this blog tends to be, but I had the idea for these robots once whilst going through my bits box and it just wouldn't leave my head. I actually dreamed about them a couple of times, so I decided to actually put them together. I mean, I dream about a lot of strange things, so this wasn't so bad, more like an idea that I had to get done so it left me alone.

The Harvestmen

From a dark and tormented city known only as The Basilisk, where nightmares are made in fused machinery and flesh, the Harvestmen come crawling, seeing new parts to make more of their number. Bladed fingers test the air, blind masks turn towards hiding places with unerring accuracy as their victims flee in vain.

Primarily made from Games Workshop parts, with the leader built around a Knight Models Scarecrow I had.

I guess I've had techno-horror on the brain for a while and this was the result?

Although these models have already appeared in a Bush Wars game (of all things), they're probably set to appear in my next lot of Multiverse shenanigans and some other supers games where I want more horror-based antagonists.

Miniatures Finished - 12/12/18

Plenty of work to keep me busy, but there's always time to slap a few coats of paint around and keep the lead pile from overwhelming me.

Green Hornet: After watching the Batman/Green Hornet crossover episodes (featuring Adam West and Van Williams), I had to get this classic crime-fighter on my table. Copplestone

Kato: Can't have the Green Hornet without Kato, best played by the incomparable Bruce Lee. Much like other pairings in Ultimate Alliance (Doctor and companion, Booster Gold and Skeets), players will probably use both Green Hornet and Kato as a single 'character'. Copplestone

Nick Fury (616): The Heroclix Ultimate/MCU Furies are nice, but I've never been really keen on the classic versions available. Thankfully this version, intended to look like David Hasselhoff from the 1998 film, with a more comic book paintjob, he suits well. Studio Miniatures

Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy: I did have a Devil Dinosaur, but this new one was a bit nicer and cheap on the secondary market. Regular readers will well know that I have a fondness for obscure comic book characters. Heroclix

Red Skull: I had to do a 20mm Red Skull for Bush Wars when I began work on African Fascists. For more information on that, take a look at the NWA Bush Wars Blog where I've done a couple of articles. Converted AB Miniatures 20mm

The Fury: So I did eventually get around to resculpting the head of my conversion for The Fury. It looks a lot better now, though I'd really rather a proper mini that looks like the old Marvel UK comics. Converted Horroclix.

Miniatures Finished: 02/01/2018

Without a major project to work towards, I'm just getting whatever I feel like done.

April O'Neill, Pete Wisdom and Ash. (two clix and Hasslefree)

Made one more Wakandan sentry gun, Baymax (keychain) and another inmate/prisoner.

Miniatures Finished: 20mm Wakandans

At NWA this year, a 1970s African Bush Wars imagi-nation campaign has started up, and whilst most of it consists of posturing and name-calling in our Facebook group, some games are happening. Naturally, I couldn't resist getting in on the action with a perennial favourite, Wakanda. Having gone out and spent a massive $25, I present my 20mm "Weird Bush Wars" Wakandans.

The military might of Wakanda on the march.

The Black Panther leads warriors of the Panther Tribe into battle.

Sharpshooters use gauss rifles to eliminate enemy armour.

Heavy Weapon Teams utilise technology most consider science-fiction.

 Wakandan vehicle support.

 Scout bikes provide reconnaissance.

Sentry guns protect the border of Wakanda from incursion.

Yeah, "Weird Bush Wars" was not a project I was expecting to do, but painting and collecting the army was fun and pretty cheap. Hopefully I can get some games in at some point and see how they go.
