EDF III Vs Wave III

Been busy ticking through the 6mm Soviets because I have so damn many of them and was sick of looking at the bare metal. They're pretty easy to paint and it feels good to break up the more complex minis that can sometimes take hours.

SU76 76mm SPGs, with converted loader to denote unit leader. Been thinking about rules for Kaiju, and only large guns like these and bigger will be able to affect the Kaiju, but probably more of an annoyance than actual harm.

The Spaceship came in a box with a Kaiju I'm yet to paint, and I picked up the Russian Revolution Armoured Cars to fit in a bit better with a "Weird Wars" concept, but I figure for Kaiju, they house flame-throwers and are for tacking the Kaiju Spawn. The Spaceship will likely house a team of "Teenagers with Attitude" at some stage.

Similarly the jet came with a Kaiju kit and looked enough like a MIG-15 that I reckon I can get away with it. For an extra 'Weird Wars" vibe, check out these T-80s! I'm a little disappointed in them and may retire them soon, as my IS-2s are about the same size.

Here another finished Annihilation Wave Nightmare demonstrates just how small the 6mm looks next to big monsters. 10mm would probably be a better scale for the Kaiju, but I already had the Soviets and I don't mind the scale being exaggerated to make the Kaiju look even more dangerous.

Miniatures Finished: EDF/Wave 2

So I've had some Kaiju stuff slowly accumulating for a little while, as well as a box of micro-armour WWII Soviets that technically belongs to my dad, and I figured that I may as well get working on both at the same time. Although I plan for my Kaiju games to be mostly about giant monsters and robots beating each other up, any good Kaiju film has the armed forces blazing away ineffectually with conventional weapons.

Also got my hands on some more parts for my Annihilation Wave bugs, which work great in 28mm as small bugs or in this scale as some kind of Kaiju spawn, like the Legion from Gamera. I'm no longer entirely sure that I'll be playing any Firefight with the army, but they should find their way into other games pretty quickly.

First batch of Soviets.

Katyusha trucks provide devastating rocket support.

First Soviet Infantry Platoon finished.

The GW Tyranid Rippers make good monsters in this scale.

"Scale Neutral" is fast becoming a watchword in this hobby.

Most of the infantry for this project will be pretty standard Late War Soviets, but keep a eye out for some 'weird' units and other fun additions as I get to them, and of course, the Kaiju themselves.

Miniatures Finished: Wave 1

Been steadily working on my Annihilation wave so that I can use the collection as a Veer Min army for Firefight.

"Nightmares", heavy infantry with a variety of weapons, converted Heroclix Hulks.

"Maligni", veteran infantry, Mantic Dreadball teams.

 Maligni special weapons, converted Mantic.

"Night Terrors", giant killer monsters that hide in infantry units, kitbashed from Tyranids and Chaos Spawn.

I'm hoping to do a few more games in the near future where I use systems like Firefight, Lion Rampant and Black Ops to play Supers games, which is why these bugs got a new coat of paint. Stay tuned!

Miniatures Finished: Cosmic Heroes and Cosmic Villains

Good progress continues, which is great because I've bought a tonne of clix this year!

Mantis, Gamora and Cosmo the Space Dog join my growing Guardians roster.

Brainiac, Space Phantom and Colonel America. Each are touch-up jobs on factory paints. Brainiac got a snow base as a tribute to Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, Space Phantom is just a favorite early Avengers enemy and Colonel America will see some play in Zombies and Firefight games as well as being a good Avatar for Thanos.
